Conference on tests and test environments of the future.
June 16 – 17, 2016, Umeå, Sweden
A global trend in educational assessment is the move towards digital tests and test environments. This can be viewed as a necessity in order to better reflect the development of modern society as a whole, but also as a way of making test administration, scoring and reporting more effective and secure. However, for many large-scale testing programmes where traditional paper-based tests currently are used, it is not obvious how this transition should be made, when taking aspects of quality, fairness and consequences into consideration.
The aim of this conference is to provide a platform where knowledge, experiences and ideas can be shared, by gathering people from different contexts and with different perspectives that have an interest in what large-scale tests and test environments of the future could and should look like. The conference programme will include presentations by internationally renowned scholars and practitioners, Symposia and Discussion Groups. Companies that deliver different kind of digital test systems will present their products.
Issues to be discussed are the opportunities, constraints, challenges and concerns we can see when it comes to digitalisation of tests, and what theoretical, technical, economical, and social impacts and consequences that may follow from digitalisation or digital environments.
We are very much looking forward to the conference, and expect to have engaging, interactive, and stimulating sessions!
The conference is organised by the Department of Applied Educational Science at Umeå University, Sweden. The conference venue will be “Umeå Folkets Hus” in the centre of Umea.
